You obviously have faith in the Perth accommodation market – what is that based on? Our decision to come to Perth is for two reasons. The first is that we have a great investor and partner with our hotel owner in Perth and this was one of the key drivers in bringing Louis T Collection to Perth. Secondly we have seen some great developments happening in Perth especially from a food and beverage standpoint and it’s such a vibrant and exciting place to be at the moment.
What type of visitor are you targeting for the new hotel? At Quay Perth, based on location, we see great potential from both corporate and leisure guests. This along with our close proximity to the convention centre makes us a great location for all segments.
What are Perth’s strengths as a destination for interstate and international visitors? For interstate visitors Perth is the vibrant city in the west with a great buzz and bringing lots of attention for its food and beverage and locally sourced products, as well as the popular wine region of Swan Valley and Margaret River. For international visitors the city embraces the many cultures that live within the city and visit regularly. Many of the international visitors from Asia have the luxury of being in a new country but with the local flavours available.
The direct Qantas Perth London route is a major gateway to Europe – will you be looking at that market? – The UK and European market is always on the radar for Perth and a focus of Louis T Collection especially with the ease of getting to and from the UK now with the Qantas flight.
The redevelopment is aiming to bring a WA spirit to the look – how will you invoke that? We are excited with Quay Perth as we like to embrace the community and Perth has so many amazing suppliers that want to work with us.
Why add a communal workspace to the mix? We wanted to open Perth’s first hotel with a co-work space as we see a niche market where there are many entrepreneurs and business people visiting Perth who are looking for the luxury of being able to use a work space as and when they require. We also see the space as a great place to network and link like-minded people together. We see the co-work space as a great place to work within a great environment.
